BETTER UNDERSTAND THE NEEDS...

Nadi al Bassar en Afrique
AN INSUFFICIENT OFFER OF TREATMENT

Lack of ophthalmologists and health care personnel, lack of equipment and remoteness of public health centres make many African countries, today, incapable of financing medicine or surgeries for patients suffering from curable blindness. It is against that background that Nadi al Bassar organizes massive surgery campaigns in various African countries with the aim of operating on patients suffering from curable ophthalmic diseases, mainly, the cataract.

URGENT NEED FOR TRAINING In order to eradicate effectively curable blindness in the developing countries, it is necessary to satisfy the need for doctors and ophthalmology technicians. It is with this in mind that Nadi al Bassar trains physicians at surgery workshops, put in place during surgery campaigns. Those trainings can be further complemented on the Tunisian territory, in University Medical Centres or in specialized clinics. In Tunisia, foreign doctors and ophthalmology technicians are then taken in charge by Nadi al Bassar.

NEED FOR EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS

Sometimes, medicine, materials and equipment can be in short supply for a surgery to be carried out on the spot. That is when Nadi al Bassar contributes to the supplying of medicine and/or materials; At times, those donations help match the supply of treatment and the patient’s need by equipping nearby medical and surgical centres.
